DIGITAL RETINAL IMAGING

This retinal photograph provides a digitally permanent record for the medical file, which allows for annual comparisons aiding in the tracking and diagnosing potential eye-threatening disease. Such imaging capability allows for advanced diagnosis and management of many eye diseases.

Retinal photography may be indicated in the following situations:

  • glaucoma and glaucoma suspect
  • systemic disease such as diabetes and hypertension
  • optic nerve disease
  • retinal disease including macular degeneration
  • neoplasm of the eye
  • trauma to the eye or globe
